Offering deeper insights into the critically acclaimed God of War franchise, this novel returns us to the dark world of ancient Greek mythology explored in the heart-pounding action of God of War I, the bestselling video game. A brutal warrior, Kratos is a slave to the gods of Olympus. Plagued by the nightmares of his past and yearning for freedom, the Ghost of Sparta would do anything to be free of his debt to the gods. He is on the verge of losing all hope when the gods give him one last task to end his servitude.

He must destroy Ares, the god of war.

But what chance does a mere mortal have against a god? Armed with the deadly chained Blades of Chaos, guided by the goddess Athena, and driven by his own insatiable thirst for vengeance, Kratos seeks the only relic powerful enough to slay Ares . . . a quest that will take him deep into the mysterious temple borne by the Titan Cronos! From the black depths of Hades to the war-torn city of Athens to the lost desert beyond, God of War sheds a brutal new light on the bestselling video game and on the legend of Kratos.

Ghost of Sparta E3 Trailer

Some stunning visuals off of Sony’s next god of war game coming for the PSP. Awesome graphics, and killer game play this game is a MUST have. No release date was announced but Jack Tretton (CEO of SCEA) announced it would be coming in Fall of this year and be available in “entertainment packs”. I would assume it would be similar to the Chains of Olympus special edition pack that bundled the game with a red PSP. Here is hoping for a white PSP with a red stripe.

Ghost of Sparta is PSP’s “Best-Looking” Game

During an interview with Industry Gamers, Sony Worldwide Entertainment’s VP, Scott Rohde explained:

“God of War: Ghost of Sparta. That’s a really amazing looking game. I think that this late in the PSP cycle, you’re seeing the best-looking PSP game that’s been created,” he gushed. “I think it really looks great. And I think that you still can’t have that kind of epic home console experience, you know, necessarily, on the competition that you can have on the PSP with these big games like God of War: Ghost of Sparta. I don’t usually tout a single title, and say ‘It’s the best ever…’ but this really looks good.”

As the game gets closer to the release date we are all on edge!

God of War 3 Ending

Since people ask about what happens at the end and why, I will explain it to you:

It all began when Kratos first opened Pandoras Box back in God of War I. The Evils locked inside were released. Instead of simply taking over the world again they infected the gods and changed them. This ist he reason why the gods appeared to be more evil in God of War II. Each of them was infected with one of the Evils from Pandoras Box. Zeus was infected with Fear. This Evil drove Zeus into killing Kratos, he was afraid his son would turn against him, just like Zeus himself had turned against Kronos. When the Box was created, Athena feared what could happen i fit was opened ever again. So she summoned Hope and placed it in the box as well. This ist he power Kratos used to kill Ares. But after the gods refused to take /away his nightmares Hope became locked by Kratos guilt and thoughts of failure. And so he wasnt able to use it again.
However, nothing of this was aware to ANYONE. Athena thought Kratos absorbed the Evils from Pandoras Box to slay Ares, not knowing that the gods were infected with these „bad powers. That is why she told Kratos to find Pandoras Box in the beginning of God of War III. She wanted Kratos to open the Box and take Hope to defeat Zeus. But since Kratos already took this power, the Box was empty when he opened it after Pandoras sacrifice. After Kratos was attacked by the spirit of Zeus, he learned to forgive himself and forget about his failures and so after all those years he was finally able to unleash Hope and use it to kill Zeus.

Now… What about Athena?
It is possible that she was infected with the Evil Greed. This could explain why she desired the power of Hope so badly and rebuild the world as the only goddess. The only thing that makes no sense is that whenever Kratos killed a god, the Evil he was infected with causes a plague. (Poseidon: Floot / Hades: The sould of the dead enter the world / Helios: The sun vanishes / Hermes: Flies cause diseases and death / Hera: Plant die off / Zeus: Thunder and storms appear) When he killed Athena, however, Greed would escape her as well. But as you can clearly see Athena is still greedy after her death. I uses the quotation mark because Athena still is somehow alive. This may be because she sacrificed herself and Kratos didnt intend to kill her. So Greed was still inside her.

The greedy Athena wants Kratos to give „Hope to her to remove the Chaos and return order to the world.(Just like Zeus and the other gods did after the Great War.) But Kratos dreaded what would happen if the fate of the mortals is given to a god another time. That is why he stabs himself! With that act, Kratos released Hope to the world and the mortals can decide for themselves what to do with it.

And Kratos?
Honestly guys, I have no clue. It is POSSIBLE that he is still alive. But Asmussen already stated that God of War III would be the end for Kratos. So even if there is a God of War IV, it is VERY unlikely that Kratos ist he protagonist.
Simply let him rest, my fellow Spartans. The Ghost of Sparta has earned his rest. R.I.P Kratos.

God of War III Playstation 3 Review

Well ladies and gentlemen this is it. The last in the long hyped, hated and loved series God of War. Does it live up to it past counter parts? I think we both know it does that…and more. So please read through the review and most of all, get this game!

Story Line
Well for those of us who haven’t been living under a rock we all know of God of Wars story line involving Kratos and his daddy issues and beef with every god there is. This round the story is much of the same set in the realm of brutal Greek mythology, God of War III is a single-player game which allows players to take on the climatic role of the ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos, as he scales through the intimidating heights of Mt. Olympus and the dark depths of Hell to seek revenge on those who have betrayed him. Armed with double-chained blades, and an array of new weapons and magic for this iteration of the trilogy, Kratos must take on mythology’s darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest to destroy Olympus.

Game Play/Controls
The games controls are actually quite responsive. They fit and feel tight and working. If you have played the other two games in the series you will be familiar with the hack and slash game play as well as the sometimes frustrating button mashing to beat the shit out of a guard in your way. There are a ton of more challenging puzzles, and mini games to compile more than 15+ hours of single player game play which is a good weekend project.

Graphics
Of course you know the boys over at SCEA would never leave us with an ugly game. God of War 3 showcases some of the finest graphics and visuals on the ps3 to date. The games have beautiful textures i the walls and you will notice the bits of leaves and dust fly by.

Conclusion
Is this a title you should own? In short…yes. If you don’t have this game and you own a PS3 your either poor, or gay, So I suggest you change your attitude and purchase the game. It is surprisingly fulfilling game, ad a nice conclusion to the long love series. Hard to believe it is only a few years old.

9.5/10

God of War: Ghost of Sparta announced for the PSP & PSPgo

Europe’s PlayStation.Blog has revealed that Kratos is returning to your portable system as he will soon be hitting the PSP and PSPgo. This will be the second time fans will see a God of War franchise title come to the PSP, with the first being God of War: Chains of Olympus. Ready at Dawn Studios developed the first PSP God of War title and will be developing the new title, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, as well.

PlayStation.Blog also had the chance to play an early code and play the game’s early stages and has confirmed that the developers are pushing the PSP to its limits with “state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher quality environments and greater depth of scale which really help deliver on those huge crazy boss fights. Alongside this expect an improved weapon system, new magical powers, the list goes on…just think bigger and better!”

God of War: Ghost of Sparta will take place after the first God of War. The story will get more in depth into Kratos life and answer questions about his tattoo and scar, to give you a look into his past and struggles.

Director, Dana Jan explained the setting of God of War: Ghost of Sparta to 1UP:

One of the things is we wanted to go back and look at what people said about Chains of Olympus. Obviously people wanted to have a bigger experience than the previous game, and it’s something that we wanted to do as well.

We looked at the things that we knew, right after finishing the first one, we wanted to improve upon… We started itemizing those things … because some of it comes down to obviously, you know, limitations of what can be done with time and hardware and personnel.

But I think that we came up with a fairly large list of things that we were able to actually expand upon and improve and retool. And I think overall, the game’s just going to be bigger, better, more polished, and [with] probably a lot more stuff than I think people are going to expect will be in this game.

There are characters that appeared in our last game who got treatments in this game that are different from before, and we’ve found moves and things laying around where it’s like, “Oh that’s really cool — why didn’t we use that?” … As far as whole areas or levels, I guess we’re not really talking about that right now, but you know, that’s obviously a possibility.

There have definitely been a few opportunities we’ve had over the course of this project, where both sides came up with ideas that would be interesting to kind of connect the two games together: God of War 3 and this game. And so there are things that you’ll find in God of War 3 — and in this game as well — that link the two together to keep the mythology going between the two and connect them really well.
