Many folks, when reaching a certain point on the great chasm on God of War 3, to be more exact, on the broken bridge, they seem to face this huge gap that obviously can’t cross (not talking about the first gap that is actually doable). You tried to jump off the bridge but you end up dying. If you actually manage to see some wings on the bridge, that means you are facing a well known problem. The Broken Bridge glitch on GoW 2, right at the end of the bridge a scene is suppose to load when you have a chat with Icarus, and then fight him (if you pay attention when walking towards the end, you actually see Icarus’s wings flipping under the bridge). As long as this scene doesnt load, you won’t be able to pass it.A known response from Sony has been that as the dvd has two layers, the glitch begins when is supposed to change from regular gameplay to the cutscene (Kratos and Icarus have a chat).
God of War 3 and Missing Icarus on the Broken Bridge Problem
Here are some possible solution to pass the broken bridge, meaning, to make Icarus scene load.
- Get a DVD lens cleaner, some of them have an auto cleaner that cleans the lens as it rotates.
- a q-tip and alcohol could do it too. The disc itself could be the problem and if you gently clean it with a bit of alcohol it should perfectly do it

- Jump off the bridge several times until you get the scene at the end of the bridge
- Load a previous saving point, but not the one that was causing you this trouble
- Reload your PS2/PS3
- Reload your PS2/PS3
- Keep walking around the bridge a while, maybe the scene could load by stepping on some particular frame
